Description
The Homebrew Computer Club first met on March 5, 1975, at the home of Gordon French in Menlo Park. The image is the first page of its newsletter for September 1976, with club news, part information, and notices.
Importance
The club met just as low-cost microprocessors such as the Intel 8080 made home computers possible. Steve Wozniak and Steve Jobs showed their Apple-1 at a meeting in 1976. Two years after its first meeting, the mailing list had more than 1,500 names.
Interesting fact
The invitation to the first meeting asked people if they built a computer, a terminal, or a TV typewriter.
