Description
The Apple-1 is a single-board computer that Steve Wozniak designed and Steve Jobs sold in 1976. Buyers got an assembled board with 4 KB of memory, but they had to add a power supply, a keyboard, and a display.
Importance
Wozniak first showed the prototype to the Homebrew Computer Club. The Byte Shop, a computer store in Mountain View, ordered 50 assembled boards from Wozniak and Jobs. They sold approximately 200 boards before the Apple II replaced the Apple-1 a year later.
Interesting fact
The price of $666.66 came from Wozniak, who liked numbers with repeated digits.
