Description
This notebook page shows a pen drawing of stat.us, a service where a person posts a short status and friends read it. Jack Dorsey drew the idea in approximately 2001 and posted a photo of the page on Flickr in July 2006.
Importance
At the podcast company Odeo in San Francisco, Dorsey and a small team started to build the service, named twttr, on March 13, 2006. Dorsey sent the first message eight days later, and the service later became Twitter. In 2009, Dorsey also started Square, the company that made the Square Reader.
Interesting fact
The team removed the vowels from the name to get the text-message code 89887, but the magazine Teen People already had it.
