Description
This photograph from May 2007 shows Justin Kan with a webcam on his cap. The camera sent live video of his life to the Justin.tv website at all hours.
Importance
Kan, Emmett Shear, Michael Seibel, and Kyle Vogt started Justin.tv, and Vogt built the backpack of cellular modems that sent the video. Later in 2007, they opened the site so that anyone could broadcast live video. Its gaming section became Twitch in 2011, and Amazon agreed to buy Twitch in 2014 for approximately $970 million.
Interesting fact
Before Justin.tv, Kan and Shear sold their first startup, the online calendar Kiko, on eBay for $258,000.
