Description
This is the back of the large thumbs-up sign at the entrance of the Facebook campus in Menlo Park. It still shows the logo of Sun Microsystems, which used the campus before Facebook.
Importance
Sun started in 1982 with its Sun-1 workstation, and Oracle completed its purchase of Sun in January 2010. Facebook started to move into the former Sun campus in December 2011 and gave it the address 1 Hacker Way. The designers turned the old Sun sign around and painted the Facebook logo on the other side.
Interesting fact
Facebook's internal handbook said the company kept the Sun name on the back as a reminder that Facebook could fail too.
