Description
The H100 is a data center GPU from Nvidia, based on the Hopper architecture, which Nvidia named after the computer scientist Grace Hopper. Nvidia announced it in March 2022, with 80 billion transistors and a Transformer Engine for AI models.
Importance
Nvidia designed its Transformer Engine for models that use the design from the Google paper in this room. On May 30, 2023, Nvidia briefly reached a $1 trillion market value during a period of strong investor interest in AI. In October 2025, Nvidia became the first company with a $5 trillion market value.
Interesting fact
At the launch, Nvidia said that 20 H100 GPUs could carry the same amount of data as all internet traffic in the world.
