Description
The iPod is a music player from Apple Computer with a 5 GB hard drive and a scroll wheel. Apple announced it on October 23, 2001, and sold it for $399 from November 10.
Importance
Apple released the iPod in 2001, and the player helped the company recover after Steve Jobs returned in 1997. In 2003, Apple opened the iTunes Music Store, where people bought songs for their iPods. The iPhone of 2007 included a widescreen iPod, and Apple later sold more than 400 million iPods.
Interesting fact
Its FireWire port copied 1,000 songs in less than 10 minutes, and its drive also held ordinary computer files.
